Redefining Hydration for a Sustainable Future

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

At The Altman Building, we are committed to driving positive change and embracing sustainability in the events industry. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are thrilled to announce a significant shift in how we provide hydration to our guests. We have bid farewell to plastic water bottles and adopted aluminum water bottles and self-serve "hydration stations" at our bars, transforming the way we serve our guests. This step brings forth a host of environmental benefits that we are excited to share with you.

Open Water aluminum water bottles help us to decrease our reliance on single-use plastics and contribute to a circular economy by providing an infinitely recyclable alternative.

By eliminating plastic water bottles, we are making a substantial impact on reducing plastic waste. Traditional bottles take hundreds of years to decompose and contribute to pollution. With self-serve water stations, we significantly decrease the number of single-use plastic bottles ending up in landfills or polluting our waterways.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to conserving natural resources. Producing plastic bottles requires substantial amounts of energy and valuable resources. By transitioning to Open Water aluminum water bottles, we decrease our reliance on single-use plastics and contribute to a circular economy. Aluminum is lightweight, durable, and infinitely recyclable, reducing the need for raw material extraction.

Furthermore, this eco-conscious choice helps lower our carbon footprint. Transportation of bottled water consumes significant fossil fuels, contr

ibuting to greenhouse gas emissions. By utilizing self-serve water stations, we minimize transportation needs and reduce our environmental impact. Additionally, aluminum production requires less energy compared to plastic bottle manufacturing, further mitigating our indirect emissions.

Our switch to aluminum water bottles encourages a culture of reusability among our guests. By providing high-quality and stylish bottles, we promote the idea of refilling a single container instead of relying on disposables. This not only reduces waste at our events but also inspires guests to make sustainable choices beyond the occasion, fostering awareness and personal responsibility.

We view this shift as an opportunity for collaboration and education. By sharing our sustainability journey with event attendees, vendors, and partners, we aim to create meaningful conversations and drive change within the events industry. Together, we can inspire others to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The Altman Building believes that events can be a catalyst for positive change. Our transition from plastic water bottles to hydration stations and aluminum bottles embodies our commitment to environmental responsibility. By reducing plastic waste, conserving natural resources, lowering our carbon footprint, promoting reusability, and fostering awareness, we are paving the way for a greener, more sustainable events industry. We invite our guests, partners, and the entire community to join us on this transformative journey, as together we create a more sustainable community, one event at a time.
